NADA New York 2022

Oreka James
May 5 –8, 2021
Booth 1.11

Projet Pangée is beyond thrilled to present a solo of Canadian artist Oreka James at NADA New York next week.

Oreka James examines the fluctuations between loss and love, life and death—while making multiple references to oral traditions, African-Caribbean folklore, ancient cultures, and animism. James believes that objects, matter, and symbols travel between realms. The dreamworld informs the very shape of their work. Each artwork, like a reminiscence, carries references to every part of the art-making journey itself. Frames function as a continuation of the work, while sculptures operate as placeholders and gateways to the unknown. Intending to transmute the physical, spiritual, and psychological process of excavation, James continues to consider pasts, presents, and futures as a means of wayfinding.
